If, during device setup, the green LED is completely off after you have sent your WiFi credentials, it means that the device has received the WiFi information but is unable to recognize or connect to the Internet using the provided credentials. Possible reasons for this issue include:
  1. There is a spelling mistake in the name and password of the WiFi you entered
  2. The HAM device is not communicating with your router due to poor signal range
  3. Something is temporarily preventing your router from communicating with the internet
  4. A complex security or operational setting on your router is preventing the device from communicating with the internet
Below are suggested ways in which you can check if any of the above is happening, as well as ways to correct the problem.
Confirm your WiFi credentials
One simple step you can take is to start the setup process from the beginning. Re-enter the WiFi name and password to ensure the information is correct. Even a small mistake, like leaving a field blank or entering the wrong information, can prevent the WiFi from connecting to the device.
Control the range of WiFi
Please make sure that your WiFi credentials are correct. If they are, but the HAM device still cannot connect to the internet, it may be due to a weak signal range at its location. Even if your mobile phone has good signal in that area, there are various factors that can interfere with the signal reaching the HAM device, such as blind spots, objects, and obstacles.
Checking your router's connection to the Internet
If you are certain that the above criteria have been met and you have attempted the device setup process again, but the green LED remains off, the next step is to verify that your router is connected to the Internet.
Checking the security settings of your router
If you have confirmed that your router is connected to the internet and there are no connectivity issues, but the green LED is still off, it's possible that your router has specific security settings that are preventing the HAM device from accessing the internet. We will provide examples of these settings that may be causing the problem, as well as ways to resolve it.
  • Connect to the WiFi whose settings you want to check
  • Fill in your account login details, which are indicated on the back of your router
  • In any browser, type the IP address indicated on your router in the search bar to be taken to the router's settings page
After logging into your router's configuration page, the first step is to check if the HAM device has received an IP address from the router. You can test this by following the instructions in our related article, up to step 3. The device should appear as HAMXX_XXXX, where XX_XXXX represents the device's serial number. If you don't see the device in the distributed IP list, then the HAM device is not connected to your router.
1. You should review steps 1 and 2 of this article: Re-check the correctness of the data you are passing to the device and the range of your WiFi.

2. There is DHCP overload: You can see how to check if there is any DHCP overload problem and how to deal with it by following the instructions in our article on DHCP overload.

3. Unable to find a 2.4GHz network.

If you see the device in the distributed IP list, then the HAM device is connected to your router. In this case, proceed to examine the remaining security settings of your router as shown below.

Firewall Protection

You can see how to check if the Firewall of your WiFi router is blocking the connection of a HAM device to the internet, and how to modify this setting, by following the instructions in our article.

Access ports

You can see how to check if the appropriate ports are open for HAM devices to communicate with the internet and how to troubleshoot the possible problem by following the instructions in our article.
Limited list of devices
There is a more rare, but quite possible in business premises, setting that may prevent the HAM device from connecting to the Internet. This setting is called "Wireless MAC Filtering" and it is device restricted access to the router, a kind of filtering of allowed devices based on their MAC address.
  • Then go to the "Wireless MAC Filtering" tab. There you will see all the devices that have been given exclusive access through this setting
  • Go to the "Wireless" or "WiFi" tab, from the settings menu of your router
To deal with the obstacles that "Wireless MAC Filtering" may pose, there are two ways to choose from:
  • You can disable the "Wireless MAC Filtering" filtering process altogether by clicking on the "Disable" option
  • Alternatively, in case you wish to keep the setting active, then you can simply add the HAM device you wish to configure to the list of allowed devices, with the MAC Address of the device.

You can see how to add a HAM device to the list of allowed devices by following the detailed instructions in our article.
