How do I know if my WiFi is 2.4GHz?
Find your Wi Fi frequency with any device

One possible cause of problems with setting up HAM devices and connecting them to your Wi-Fi network is that your Wi-Fi router is not transmitting at a frequency of 2.4GHz, which is necessary for the connection of our devices.
Before you continue your efforts to connect the device to your Wi-Fi, you can ensure that the 2.4 GHz requirement is met, in a fairly simple way, for any electronic device you want
A universal method for any device
A fairly simple and universal way is to observe your Wi-Fi network name from the list of available networks, on any electronic device you want, with any software you have:
1. Admittedly, the Wi-Fi networks on the market that transmit at 5GHz, and are therefore not compatible with HAM devices, usually declare it right next to their name. So it should suffice to look at the name of your network in order to see if this is the case.
You may, indicatively, see:
- "home_wifi_5G"
- "home_wifi 5.0"
- "home_wifi5"
2. On the other hand, if you see "2GHz" or "2.4GHz" next to the network name, or don't see anything similar, then, most likely, the Wi-Fi network is a 2.4GHz one, and compatible with HAM devices.

However, this method is not always the safest and most reliable way to find out what frequency your Wi-Fi network is transmitting to, so we present below, more detailed, more secure and different methods, depending on the electronic device you use.
For Android Smartphone
1. From the notifications panel, tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon to go to the available networks.

2. Connect to the Wi-Fi network whose frequency you want to know, and tap the settings icon on the right.

3. Here you can obtain information about the broadcast frequency of the specific Wi-Fi, depending on the android version you have:
- Read the "Frequency" indicator. It will indicate 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
or
- Read the "Network speed" indicator. If this speed is below 400 Mbps, then this Wi-Fi is broadcasting at 2.4GHz.

** Alternatively, if you don't want to connect to this Wi-Fi, you can use the same way for android as shown below for iPhone.
For iPhone
For iOS devices (iPhone), there is no conventional way to find the Wi-Fi frequency.
Therefore, we recommend the use of a suitable application for this purpose:
1. Download the "Ubiquiti WiFiman" app from the App Store.

2. Open the app. On the home page, tap "Wireless" to see all available networks.

3. Tap the "Channels" tab, and select the "2.4 GHz" section.

4. In this section you will see a list of all available Wi-Fi networks near you that are broadcasting at 2.4 GHz. Search for your Wi-Fi in this list to confirm that it is broadcasting at 2.4 GHz.

For a Windows desktop computer
1. Go to the "Available Wi-Fi Networks" tab at the bottom right of your screen.

2. In this tab, you will see all available networks near your computer.
- Connect to the Wi-Fi whose broadcast frequency you want to find out.
- Tap on the Wi-Fi you just connected to.
** You may then have to click on the "Properties" option. In this case you will be directed to step 5.

3. You will be directed to settings. There, select the Wi-Fi you're connected to again.

4. You'll be taken to the "Properties" page, where you can see your Wi-Fi frequency at the bottom of the page under "Network Band".
